Pictures of the early Romanesque Church of St. Donatus Zadar, Croatia. Built in the 9th century by the then Irish Bishop of Zadar, the church was dedicated to St. Donatus of Zadar a Dalmatian saint who was the Bishop of Zadar. Built in the old Roman Forum the circular church is 27 m high ( 88 ft) and was attached to the Bishops Palace as a private chapel. Two apse protrude from the east end of the church for the altars. Roman stones from an earlier temple can still be seen in the foundations at the base of the walls of St. Donatus church and on its interior old Roman columns have been reused.
